Why am I here? – Sermon Notes

What does it mean to be alive? Breathe, be in relationship, think, animated, lively, full of life, alert, active, energetic, vigorous, spry, sprightly, vital, vibrant, vivacious, buoyant, exuberant, ebullient, zestful, spirited, enthusiastic, eager, bouncy, bubbly, perky, sparkling; full of beans, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, bright and breezy, full of vim and vigour, sparky, chirpy, chipper, peppy,

Sometimes in church we forget to look at the Big questions. Where did I come from? Why am I here? What is life all about?

It’s likely we all know where we came from – physically and spiritually

Why are you here? Because God loves you –

Nan and baptismal experience. Cannot Live there. Don’t need ANYTHING.

You are like one of a billion candle flames in the brightness of the sun…….

Because God loves you God lets you go, and you are created as a part of this world, as a human being………… You get to be an individual. You get to live.

Born addicts to God – we crave Love – don’t grow right without it. We Crave God.

God is craving us. – God became human so they could be with us.

God makes creation home so that we can have a home in God. Not in a way that robs us of our identity, but in a way that gives us life.

Jesus is not the only child of God, Jesus is the son of humanity. In other words, Jesus isn’t just God being born into humanity, Jesus is humanity being born into God.

Apostle Paul – after Christians – realizes they are Christ.

God made a home in creation, a home called Christ, where Jesus is and we are all invited to live in God’s presence. And can LIVE.

So, the next time you have an existential moment of panic and wonder, why am I here? Remember it’s really simple. Because God loves you.
