The last weekly newsletter

News and service details for Sunday 12th September 2021

Yes, this is my last weekly newsletter. I know some of you are heaving a sigh of relief, whilst others might miss my inane weekly chatter. But, either way, we are moving forward. I will try to gather information for a more comprehensive newsletter and send it our once a month. Of course, if there are any sudden changes, prayer requests, or good goss, then I’ll email out an announcement note.

Worship is changing too. On the first Sunday of each month we now meet for an in-person worship service at Dorset Gardens Methodist Church. Doors open around 5:30, and the service is at the usual time of 6pm. The service will also be streamed live on our Facebook page so that you can also worship with us remotely if you so wish. (See www.facebook.com/TheVillageMCC).

On the Sundays when The Village MCC is not meeting in-person you are welcome to meet with us for a Sunday Connection on Zoom or Facebook.  Sunday Connection is simply a weekly touchstone service which includes a very brief message, a little music (or maybe a hymn), a prayer, and a blessing for the week. Of course if you meet with us on Zoom then there’ll be time both before and afterwards to socialise a little. Please use the usual Zoom meeting code (504 390 105) and password (2020). You can also connect via facebook.com/TheVillageMCC.

I’m thrilled to say that this Sunday we have with us Rev. Deborah Cornish from DGMC, and she has very kindly offered to bring us our thought for the week.

If you would like to attend a full length online service when The Village MCC is not meeting in-person, you are welcome to join MCC North London. They meet every Sunday at 7pm, both in-person and online. Rev. Peta has asked me to let you know that you would be very welcome to join them either way. Their online details are:

Or if anyone wants to watch the MCCNL Facebook stream, they need to join the Fellowship and Worship Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2903974243016121

Alternatively, every Sunday you can join MCC New York at their family service. It’s streamed on Facebook live at 4pm* UK time, but their services are also recorded so you can watch them at any time on their Facebook page. Just check in to facebook.com/MCCNY.

Both of these services include an open and affirming communion celebration.

I ask you for your prayers please as we go through these changes. I hope you have a blessed week.

Much love

Rev. Michael

Community Prayers.

Praying hands

Lord, we continue to lift all those in Afghanistan who are living in fear. We lift all those who fear for loved ones still trapped there, and for all the organisations and groups that continue to work so hard to help those in danger to escape. Most of all Lord, we pray for the kind of peace that affirms every person as one of your unique children, and praises you for the extraordinary rainbow diversity in which you have created us all .

Lord, we ask for healing for Robert, Tony P, and Simon as they continue to receive treatment;  Wendy and Sarah for their ongoing health;  Charlie, as he recovers at home. We lift all those we may not have mentioned, but who you know need your touch. Lord, please continue to be with us all. Amen.

If you would like to add a prayer to the newsletter then please email me at pastor@thevillagemcc.org.  – Michael x

Sunday Connection

This Sunday I’m thrilled to say that this Sunday we have with us Rev. Deborah Cornish from DGMC, and she has very kindly offered to bring us our thought for the week. The music this week is a hymn. I do hope you sing along! All the words you need for our liturgy will be on your screen. Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday at 6pm. Michael x

Holy God I wonder
how I managed to exist
without the knowledge of your parenthood
and Your loving care.
But now I am your own
I am a member of your family
and I can never be alone,
for Holy God, you’re there beside me.

I will sing Your praises, I will sing Your praises,
I will sing Your praises, forever more.

I will sing Your praises, I will sing Your praises,
I will sing Your praises, forever more.

PastoSitting under a treeral Care Team – 07476 667353

Pastoral care continues. Call or text the church mobile and leave a message, and someone will get back to you. When the pandemic first broke we tried to reach out to everybody at least once a month. As time has gone on we have reduced our pastoral care calls to those who have either requested them or are at high risk. Of course we don’t want to miss anybody out so if you would like to connect then please let us know
