What do you want from the Village?

This week the Pastor’s Blog is less a pastor’s message and more a bit of housekeeping.  As we move towards the end of the year I am looking for members to step forward and serve on the board of directors. I would especially like someone with accounting skills (actually, simply being able to use a spreadsheet would do), and someone with safeguarding experience. And if you’d like to help out but aren’t a member then I’ll be holding membership meetings on a one-on-one basis over a coffee throughout October and November.  Of course I’d love you to come and join the church! But meeting for a coffee and a chat doesn’t obligate you, it just means you’ll have the info you need to make an informed decision. Just let me know and we can make sure we take time to get together when it works for you.

Our annual day retreat is on October 22nd. I do hope that you’re able to come. The theme is ‘Worship’ and we’ll be looking at our Sunday worship as well as special events like Christmas and Easter. It’s going to be a fun exciting day, time away from the world, for reflection as well as dreaming into our future. Please let me know if you have any special dietary requirements.

Also, have a think about what else you’d like from your church throughout 2017. How about one off training sessions or experiences? How to use The Jesus Deck? How to journey with the spirit? How to contact and listen to your guardian angel? How to journey within? How to use NLP and anchors to help control bad memories? How to talk to God, and hear what God is telling you? How to cook great scrambled eggs? Understanding your relationship with your partner?  I have to say that I’m not an expert at any of these (although I do make fabulous scrambled eggs) – these are just some ideas for workshops I could facilitate. I’m also quite happy to ask others to come in if there’s something else that appeals. How about a writing workshop or trans awareness workshop? And perhaps there’s a workshop that you’d like to facilitate? What expertise do you have that you would like to teach? What lessons have you learned that you would like to share? Could you teach others how to play a specific board or card game? (I’m not a bad teacher of Rummikub, evident in the fact that I have continually lost to everyone I’ve taught!), Do you have a particular skill you’d like to share?

I’d like to be able to advertise some of these workshops on meet-up so that we can fill any empty spaces with folks from outside the church. i think it could be fun!

The Village MCC is your church. My job is to use my knowledge and experience to facilitate and lead, but in the end I work for you. What is it that peaks your interest? What interests you? Please. do let me know.

Be blessed.
Rev. Michael
