The Village Church Community Garden News

Everything is progressing beautifully with the new garden, and we look forward to enjoying a small harvest this year, even though we got off to a late start, thanks partly to the bizarre spring weather!

With most of the ground clear, the big priority now is to improve the paths and seating area, so that it’s a comfortable and accessible place for all of us.

We’ve got two exciting events planned for June:

On Sunday the 17th, we will be Building a Labyrinth

Using the bottle bricks (the ones we made and collected in December, as part of an effort to bring awareness of plastic waste) we will construct a prayer labyrinth. Mary has done a course on bottle brick architecture, and we can build something that will be beautiful, useful, and environmentally responsible.

A Prayer Labyrinth is a wonderful way to pray. Following the labyrinth path offers the restless mind an opportunity to become calm and listen to the inner voice. The act of creating the labyrinth can also become an act of worship!

We will begin at 10:30am, there will be tea and coffee and snacks provided. Please wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty!

On Thursday 21st June we will have a Midsummer Service and Barbeque

On the day of the Summer Solstice, we will celebrate God’s gifts of light, warmth, and growth with a short service of celebration at the church garden, followed by a barbeque. Starts at 7pm.

There is a very small parking area on the allotments which is for Blue Badge Holders only.
